We stand with immigrant individuals and families as they navigate the challenges of the immigration system. Our advocates provide one-on-one support, connect clients with trusted legal resources, and offer accompaniment during court hearings, ICE check-ins, and other appointments. We help families prepare for emergencies such as detention or deportation, and support loved ones through detention-related needs like bond fundraising and commissary. We also provide community education on immigration rights and help families safely share their stories to raise awareness. Our goal is to ensure dignity, safety, and empowerment for everyone we serve.

This is an online, self-paced education and training series from Empowerment Advocate Alaska designed to help families, community members, advocates, and professionals better understand Trauma-Informed Immigration Advocacy.
Immigration-related experiences can create significant stress, fear, and uncertainty for individuals and families. Navigating immigration systems, enforcement actions, detention, appointments, and available resources can be overwhelming—especially while experiencing the effects of trauma.
This course series provides communities and professionals with accessible, practical information on trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches to supporting individuals and families navigating immigration-related challenges.
We offer two learning pathways:
Family & Community Education — Free
Free modules are designed for Immigrant individuals and families, community members, and anyone who wants to better understand trauma-informed immigration advocacy. These modules focus on providing clear, plain-language information about what families and communities may experience.
Professional Training Workshops — Fee-Based
Additional modules are offered as interactive workshops for professionals who work with Immigrant individuals and families or want to strengthen their understanding of trauma-informed immigration advocacy. These workshops go beyond information-sharing and provide practical tools, strategies, and opportunities to apply what participants learn to real-world situations.
Fee-based workshops include certificates of completion and are intended for professionals such as victim advocates, social workers, behavioral health providers, attorneys, Tribal and community service providers, educators, and others who support families and communities impacted by MMIP. *Tribal entities and Tribal community service providers will be offered sliding-scale fees to help ensure cost does not limit their ability to participate in our workshops and trainings.
